I. Recommendation

It is recommended that the General Superintendent and CEO or his designee enter into a contract with Industrial & Environmental Services, LLC ("IES") for DuSable Park Phase I Thorium Screening and Remediation services. The contractor was selected pursuant to a publicly advertised Invitation for Bids ("IFB"). No work may commence and no payment shall be made to contractor prior to the execution of a written agreement.

Scope of Services: Includes excavation and remediation as needed to identify and dispose of thorium contaminated fill soils within the interior of the DuSable Park site. This remediation project includes clearing and grubbing the site, systematically excavating the site in 18 inch lifts to allow for thorium screening of the fill material down to native sand, disposal of all thorium contaminated material, grading and vegetating the site with a native grass mix upon completion.

Authorization: Authorize the General Counsel to include other relevant terms and conditions in the written Agreement. Authorize the General Superintendent to execute the Agreement and the Secretary to attest as to the signing of the Agreement and keep an original copy of the Agreement on file.
