Title
AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER IV OF
THE CODE OF THE CHICAGO PARK DISTRICT
Body
To the Honorable Board of Commissioners of the Chicago Park District
I. Recommendation
It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners grant authority to amend chapter IV of the existing Chicago Park District Code to reflect more inclusive language, including expanded definitions related to human rights.
The update does not set out to be comprehensive or definitive because language is constantly evolving, but rather an attempt at a greater sense of inclusion within the Code.
II. Explanation
Chapter 70 ILCS 1505/7.02, enables the Board of Commissioners to “establish by ordinance all needful rules and regulations for the government and protection of parks…” Therefore, it is recommended that the following chapters of the Chicago Park District Code be amended as phase one of a larger undertaking to update the governing policies of the District.
• Chapter IV - Human Rights
The amendments will become effective upon their adoption by the Board of Commissioners.
The General Counsel shall prepare and publish copies of the portions of the Code that have been revised by reason of amendment.
