I. Recommendation

It is recommended that the General Superintendent and CEO or his designee enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Chicago for the purpose of constructing emergency shoreline protection measures at Howard Beach, Rogers Beach, and Juneway Beach. The Park District will partially fund the Project in a total amount of $1,300,000 (the "Park District Funds") with respect to Howard Beach, Rogers Beach and Juneway Beach.

III. Explanation
On January 10-12, 2020, the City of Chicago was subject to a damaging Lake Michigan storm with high winds and large waves that closed, either partially or fully, several transportation corridors and damaged the Park District Properties and several private properties located close to the lakefront. The Park District desires to have the City to make certain emergency repairs and improvements to the Park District Properties located in the City's Rogers Park neighborhood. The City will partially fund the Project in a total amount of $1,500,000 on behalf of the Park District with respect to Howard Beach, Rogers Beach, and Juneway Beach. The Park District will partially fund the Project in a total amount of $1,300,000 (the "Park District Funds") with respect to Howard Beach, Rogers Beach and Juneway Beach. The City will use the Park District Funds exclusively to acquire necessary materials, to compensate its contractors, and pay all capital costs related to the Project.
