I. Recommendation

It is recommended that the General Superintendent and CEO or his designee enter into a contract with Walsh Construction Company LLC.for the construction of the Canals Origins, Park#571, Boat House. The contractor was selected pursuant to a Request for Proposals ("RFP"). No work may commence and no payment shall be made to vendor prior to the execution of a written agreement.

Scope of Services: The Chicago Park District ("CPD") seeks to develop a new boat house with rowing training and boat storage facility. The development will excavate and re-use existing material such as top soil and stone on site; remove the existing sheet pile, current dock and fencing and install new sheet pile at the river's edge and a fully accessible floating dock to launch from; a 5,832 s.f. mechanically heated training building with an open plan for ergometer work out space, restrooms, an office and a multi-use learning center, a 13,171 s.f. boat storage building with a rowing office, four (4) team storage bays, a heated boat storage repair bay, vending area and a clear span boat storage space that will consist of five (5) unheated boat storage bays to store 66 rowing shells and support equipment.
