AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH CHICAGO PARKS FOUNDATION

I. Recommendation
It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners authorize the General Superintendent or their designee to enter into a grant agreement with the Chicago Parks Foundation, an Illinois not-for-profit corporation established to raise private funds to support the creation, restoration and conservation of Park District facilities and the expansion of Park District programs. Under the grant agreement, the Park District will provide to the Chicago Parks Foundation a grant in the amount of $500,000.

Contract Period: 2 years beginning 1/1/2025, with two additional two-year extension options
Contract Amount: $500,000 ($100,000 for services performed in 2024, then $200,000 annually in 2025 & 2026)
Scope of Services: Provide private support for the programs and services offered by the Chicago Park District
Authorization: Authorize the General Counsel to include other relevant terms and conditions in the written Agreement. Authorize the General Superintendent to execute the Agreement and the Secretary to attest as to the signing of the Agreement and keep an original copy of the Agreement on file.

IV. Explanation
The Chicago Parks Foundation was created in 2012 as a vehicle to provide private support for the programs and services offered by the Chicago Park District. By establishing partnerships with private donors, foundations, and corporations, the Chicago Parks Foundation is able to provide additional financial resources for those projects that might not have received funding otherwise.
