I. Settlement Information

Authorization:                      Authorize the General Counsel to execute the Settlement Agreement and include other relevant terms and conditions in the written Agreement.

 

II. Recommendation

 

It is recommended that an order be entered settlement of the lawsuit, Jane Doe v. Chicago Park District (Circuit Court of Cook County Case No. 2023 L 012726), in the amount of $400,000.00.  The General Counsel has determined that this settlement is in the District’s best interests.

IV. General Conditions

 

1)  Conflicts:  The agreement shall not be legally binding on the Chicago Park District if entered into in violation of the provisions of 50 ILCS 105, the Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act.

 

2)  Ethics:  The agreement shall contain a provision requiring compliance with Chapter III of the Code of the Chicago Park District (“Governmental Ethics”).

 

3)  Contingent Liability:  The agreement shall contain a clause that any expenditure beyond the current fiscal year is deemed a contingent liability, subject to appropriation in the subsequent fiscal year budget(s).
