V. Explanation of Recommendation
The Department of Facility Management is responsible for repairing and maintaining Chicago Park District facilities districtwide and needs a constant supply of electrical materials and equipment for various tasks such as repairing or replacing electrical fixtures and lamps, replacing outlets, and maintaining electrical systems. The supplies are varied and required for both indoor and outdoor maintenance such as outlets, switches, fixtures, breakers, conduit, wire, light poles, and LED lighting. The need for these electrical supplies is ongoing as repairs and maintenance are required throughout the year.
Both J.P. Simons and Midco Electric Supply, Inc have met the expectations under this contract to supply and deliver electrical supplies to the Chicago Park District. Furthermore, they have the capacity to meet the delivery requirements of the Chicago Park District.
Therefore, it is in the best interest of the Chicago Park District to grant the second of four one- year extension options, with the negotiated prices and no change to the contract value, to the awarded contracted vendors of J.P. Simons and Midco Electric Supply, Inc for the applicable categories.
